ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team opened its home portion of the schedule, falling to Misericordia University, 17-6.
 
Connor Hurley tallied two goals and two assists for the Knights. Owen Avelar made 10 saves in net.
 
A goal was not scored until six minutes into the game when the Cougars found the back of the net. Misericordia scored again just 38 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Luke Sykes put the Knights on the board, off a pass from Hurley. The Cougars scored two more goals in the first quarter for a 4-1 game after one.
 
Hurley scored his first goal of the game to open the second quarter. Misericordia netted six goals before Darius Thompson scored just before the buzzer for a 10-3 score at the half.
 
Bryan Avanzato opened the second half scoring, off an assist from Hurley. Matt Morris scored late in the quarter, off a pass from Cooper Dee for a 10-5 game. The Cougars took back the momentum as they scored just before the buzzer for an 11-5 score heading into the final 15 minutes.
 
Misericordia kept up the pressure in the fourth quarter. Hurley scored his second goal of the game with 4:14 left. The Cougars scored the final goal of the game for the 17-6 final.
 
Neumann (0-3) is back on the field on Friday when it heads to Alvernia beginning at 1:00 PM.
