Men’s Hockey to Play for MAC Title on Saturday

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team will battle Stevenson University in the postseason for the second straight year but this time, it's for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championship.

The Knights are the top seed in this year's tournament after a 14-5-2 conference record. Overall, they are 16-8-2. They advanced to the championship after last Saturday's 5-0 shutout of No. 4 seeded Alvernia. Jared Coccimiglio, Max Donohoe, Shawn Eliav, Matt Dimaline, and Niko Tishkevich all scored while Christian Green made 29 saves for the shutout.

Stevenson is the second seed after a 13-6-1 conference record, finishing at 16-9-1 overall. In their semifinal against Wilkes, they defeated the third seed by a final score of 6-2.

Neumann won two of the three regular season meetings this year. On January 9th, the Mustangs took that meeting, 3-2, but the next afternoon, it was the Knights who would split the weekend at IceWorks with a 4-1 victory. With each team grabbing a win, the decider was on February 7th in Maryland, and Neumann earned a hard-fought 3-2 win.

If the Knights win on Saturday night, they will win their first conference championship since the 2012-13 season, and their first NCAA tournament berth since 2010-11.
