ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team split a doubleheader with Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Mighty Macs took game one 16-1.
Yoan Feliz was 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
The teams battled back and forth in game two with the Knights coming out on top, 10-7. After Immaculata scored two runs in the top of the first,
Nick Ciesielka hit a solo homerun.
With the Mighty Macs leading 5-1 in the third,
Andrew Brown hit a sacrifice fly to score
Anthony Rakotz. Ciesielka scored on a failed pick-off attempt for a 5-3 game.
In the fourth with the score 7-3, Brown hit a bases clearing double to pull Neumann to within one, 7-6. The Knights tied the game in the sixth inning as Ciesielka knocked in
Donovan Brooks with a single.
With two on in the bottom of the eighth,
Jordan Tocci stepped the to the plate and hit his first collegiate homerun to give the Knights a 10-7 lead. The Mighty Macs put two on in the ninth, but the Knights shut it down and salvaged the split.
Alex Gambol started the game on the mound.
Rey Carrier pitched 2.1 innings in relief.
Tommy Angelucci pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
Kyle Dailey picked up the win, going 3.0 scoreless innings.
Neumann (13-9-1, 6-6 Atlantic East) heads to Salisbury on Tuesday for non-conference action beginning at 3:30 PM.
