Men’s Lacrosse Set Aside by Marywood on Senior Day

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team had a strong effort to honor their seniors but ultimately fell to Marywood University on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference game by a final score of 15-9.

Marywood scored the game's first two goals in the first 3:08. 1:01 later, Cooper Dee got the Knights on the board. The Pacers then scored the next three goals for a 5-1 lead after 15 minutes. After the Pacers got the first goal of the second, Dee broke their run with his 12th goal of the season. Luke Sykes scored with 9:57 left in the half to pull his squad within three. Unfortunately for Neumann, they would give up the next four to trail 10-3 at the break.

The third quarter started slow as the goal, scored by the Pacers, didn't occur until the 10:43 mark. Matt Morris would respond with a goal at 9:04 but Marywood made it 12-4, 56 seconds later. Starting at 4:21, the Knights went on a three-goal push as Darius Thompson, Morris, and Connor Hurley got the Knights within five before Marywood struck with 53 seconds left.

Neumann got the first two of the fourth when Hurley scored with the man up and Morris followed at 7:25. The Pacers would lock down defensively and pull away towards the end of the game with two more goals.

Morris led Neumann with three goals and an assist. Hurley had two goals and an assist with Dee added two goals. Sykes and Sean Harrington led the Knights' ground game with four ground balls each. Owen Avelar made 16 saves in the effort.

Neumann (0-11, 0-2 Atlantic East) will look to break into the win column on Tuesday afternoon when they host Stockton University in a non-conference clash. The opening face off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
