EWING, N.J. – The Neumann University challenged No. 18 ranked College of New Jersey in a non-conference match on Wednesday, falling by a final score of 21-4.
The College of New Jersey took control of the game 28 seconds into the first quarter and continued to a 10-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. With the Lions lead at 13,
Rachel Roane nabbed a ground ball and fed
Alena Catka for Neumann's first goal of the game. College of New Jersey notched another goal with 34 seconds left in the half for a 14-1 lead.
The Lions notched the first two goals of the third before
Maggie Miller scored on a free position try for her 20
th goal of the season. With 1:57 left in the third, Catka stole the ball from the Lions' goalie and stuffed into the vacant net. In the fourth, New Jersey scored the first three goals then, with 6:31 left, Catka received a pass from
Gracie Kucia for her 42
nd of the season.
Catka finished with three goals and 11 draw controls.
Kenna Sanders led with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Nora Brady and
Krista Geibler also had two caused turnovers.
Sarah Kiraly made four saves in goal.
Neumann (5-8, 3-0 Atlantic East) will celebrate their seniors of Saturday afternoon when they host Gwynedd Mercy University in an Atlantic East Conference game starting at 1:00 PM.
