ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team will be hosting Immaculata University in the Atlantic East Conference tournament semifinals, this coming Saturday at 1:00 PM.
The Knights closed out the regular season with a record of 7-8 overall after challenging some of the best teams in the region. In Atlantic East play, they were a perfect 5-0 and have earned the top seed in this year's tournament. Immaculata is the fourth seed after concluding their season with a 2-3 conference record. They are 6-11 overall.
Their lone regular season meeting was this past Wednesday, at Immaculata, and it was an 18-4 victory by Neumann. The Knights were led by
Alena Catka's 10-point game, scoring seven goals with three assists. She added nine draw controls, five ground balls, and six caused turnovers.
Rachel Roane also made a huge contribution with four goals and two assists.
Tessa Vannello helped with her first Neumann hat trick.
Catka finished the regular season with 11 hat tricks in 15 games. She compiled 54 goals and 21 assists for 75 points, adding 130 draw controls in the process. Roane had 23 goals and 11 assists with
Maggie Miller adding 21 goals, 12 assists, and a team-high 40 ground balls.
Krista Geibler led defensively with 32 caused turnovers, followed by Miller's 30, and
Nora Brady's 24. The Knights are anchored in goal by
Sarah Kiraly as she finished with a goals against average of 11.91 and a .343 save percentage.
In the other semifinal game, No. 2 Marywood will host No. 3 Marymount. The winners of the semifinal matches will compete in the Atlantic East Conference championship game on Saturday, May 2
nd, at the home field of the highest remaining seed.
