Neumann's David Deal Awarded Distinguished Service Award for 2025-26

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Distinguished Service Award on Thursday afternoon, naming David Deal as this year's recipient.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the conference and have served a minimum of 10 years within their institution or conference.

"David Deal has made a great impact on both the Atlantic East and Neumann University," said Atlantic East Commissioner, Rebecca Mullen. "In his time in the Atlantic East he was always willing to represent the conference not only within its own governance structure, but at the national level as well. It was a pleasure working with him and it is an honor to be able to recognize him for his impact on student athletes during his time."

David Deal recently transitioned into a new role with BSN Sports, stepping down as the Deputy Director of Athletics at Neumann University this spring, having served the Knights for over 12 years. Deal was a four-year baseball player and two-time graduate at Neumann, initially joining the Athletic Department in 2013, beginning as the Coordinator of Intramurals, Clubs Sports and Wellness.

"Over the course of more than 12 years at Neumann University, Deal exemplified the very essence of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to collegiate athletics," said Neumann University's Director of Athletics and Recreation, John Krimmel. "Beyond his titles, Dave's true impact lies in the culture he helped build. He has been instrumental in enhancing the student-athlete experience, improving operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment within Neumann Athletics. His leadership, loyalty, and passion have left a lasting imprint not only on the university, but also on the Atlantic East Conference through his consistent professionalism and commitment to excellence."

His leadership was further recognized when he was appointed Interim Director of Athletics in the summer of 2024, guiding the department with stability and vision during a critical transitional period. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director and, most recently, Deputy Director of Athletics.

In this role, Dave oversaw business operations, managed and maintained all athletics and recreation facilities, and coordinated the complex master scheduling of practices and competitions—responsibilities that are vital to the success of any athletics department. Deal  served on the Knight's staff since the inception of the Atlantic East, supporting Neumann through enhancing the student-athlete experience, improving operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

"Dave's career is a testament to what it means to serve in intercollegiate athletics. His contributions, both seen and unseen, have strengthened his institution and positively impacted countless student-athletes and colleagues," added Krimmel.

The Atlantic East is honored to recognize a founding member for the unmatched service to both Neumann University and the Atlantic East. We wish him success in his new role with BSN Sports.
