ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a match to Arcadia University, 3-0, on Friday evening in the first day of the Knights Invitational. Set scores were 25-20, 25-22 and 25-16.
Melissa Eddy led the Knights with 12 kills, a .357 hitting percentage and nine digs.
Julia Solomon and
Taylor Dinnis each added nine kills.
Emma Kovacs handed out 18 assists.
The teams traded points early on before Arcadia tallied four straight points for an 8-5 lead. Neumann came back and knotted the game at nine as then teams started going back-and-forth. Arcadia took a 16-12 lead when Neumann answered with five straight points to take a 17-16 edge. With Neumann holding a 20-18 advantage, Arcadia rattled off seven straight points to take set one, 25-18.
Set two was much like the first, as each team took some leads while staying close. Tied at 22, Arcadia was able to take the final three points for a 25-22 set two win.
With Neumann holding a 4-3 edge in set three, Arcadia answered to take an 8-4 lead with five straight points. Arcadia continued to build on its lead, increasing its advantage to 16-9 and taking set three 25-16.
Neumann (2-4) continues the Knights Invitational on Saturday, facing Ursinus at 10:00 AM followed by DeSales at 2:00 PM.
