ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team picked up a non-conference tie against FDU-Florham on Wednesday afternoon. The final score was 1-1.
Although Neumann led in corner kicks in the first half, 4-3, it was FDU-Florham who controlled a good portion of play. The Devils outshot the Knights 9-5, although shots on goal were even at three. FDU-Florham broke onto the scoreboard in the 35
th minute on a defensive miscue.
The Devils continued to press play in the second half as they had the only four corner kicks, outshooting Neumann, 7-4. In the 73
rd minute, the Knights found the equalizer as
Julianna Hatt, from a sharp angle, and from long distance, rattled a cross off the post. It was picked up by the FDU-Florham goalie, but the ball had already crossed the goal line for the score.
Amber Schauman led the Knights with three shots, two on goal. Hatt also had three shots while
Delaney Babish had both of her shots challenge the goalkeeper.
Shannon Duffy made three saves to preserve the draw.
Neumann (2-5-1) will now enter MAC Commonwealth conference play as they visit York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday. The opening kick against the Spartans is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
