Kyle Mountain

Kyle Mountain enters his seventh season at the helm of the Neumann University men’s ice hockey team for the 2023-24 season.

The 2018-19 season was an up and down year for the Knights, culminating with a record of 6-15-4 and a 5-9-4 record in UCHC play. Neumann caught fire late in the season, but a heart-breaking 4-3 loss at Manhattanville on the season’s final day kept the Knights out of the conference playoffs.

In his first season in charge in 2017-18, Mountain led Neumann to a record of 10-15-2, including an 8-6-2 mark in UCHC action. The Knights entered the conference playoffs as the sixth seed, knocking off third-seeded Lebanon Valley College on their way to a semifinal matchup with top-seeded Utica College. Neumann led 2-1 heading into the final period of play against the Pioneers but the team could not hold on, falling 5-2 to end its season. Jake Davidson was named the UCHC Defensive Player of the Year, while Liam Board also earned second-team all-conference honors.

Coach Mountain spent two years as an assistant coach at Neumann after playing four years of Division I hockey at the University of Vermont and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He graduated from UNO in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and was a member of the school's first ever team to reach the Frozen Four of the NCAA Tournament during the 2014-2015 season. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, he attended and graduated from LaSalle University with a Master's degree in communication in the summer of 2017.
