Joan Braid

Joan Braid returns in 2025 for her eighth season at the helm of the Neumann University men’s volleyball team.

Braid has previously coached collegiately at Cheyney University, Bryn Mawr College and Villanova University.

A club coach since 1993, Braid spent four years as a head coach with the Media Boys Volleyball Club, four years as Assistant Director and head coach with the Quaker City Volleyball Club, and has been Director of the Freedom Volleyball Club since 1997. Braid also spent a combined total of thirteen seasons coaching high school at Garnet Valley and St. Maria Goretti High Schools.

In the spring of 2006, Braid received the Jack Schatz Award, a national award from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) for contribution to the sport of volleyball. Braid earned the award as recognition for her work as the Director of the Middle Atlantic AAU Volleyball program.

Braid holds an MBA from West Chester University, as well as a BS in Liberal Arts and a Secondary Teaching Certificate in Social Studies, also from West Chester.
