Christy Malone Fleagle

Going into her 18th year of collegiate women’s lacrosse coaching experience, Christy Fleagle begins her ninth season with Neumann where she also serves as an Associate Athletic Director.

The 2019 season saw Fleagle guide the Knights to an 11-9 record overall and a 3-3 record in the team’s first ever season in the Atlantic East Conference. Neumann’s 3-3 record earned it the fourth seed in the conference playoffs and a home playoff game. The Knights took down Immaculata by a score of 15-14 in the opening round of the playoffs, before falling to top seeded Marywood in the conference semifinals. Neumann earned a trip to the ECAC tournament, but fell in the first round at Drew University. Lydia Beckman led the team as the Atlantic East Conference Defender of the Year, while Kaitlyn Conrad and Catriona Corrigan were also named first-team all-conference. Brittany Cassidy, Nani Espada and Reilly Fiedler all earned second-team all-conference honors.

Fleagle led the 2018 team to a record of 10-9, including a 5-3 record in conference play. The Knights knocked off Keystone College in the first round of the CSAC playoffs before falling to eventual conference champion Cabrini College in the semifinal round. Four Knights earned All-Conference honors, led by Brittany Cassidy, Kaitlyn Conrad and Gabby Curry on the First Team. Lydia Beckman also received second-team all-conference honors. In addition to conference awards, Conrad and Curry were also named to All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) teams. Conrad was named to the First Team, while Curry made the Second Team. Conrad also set program records in both goals (80) and points (113) on the season.  
 
The 2017 team finished 10-9 overall and 7-2 in CSAC action. Three team members, Kaitlyn Conrad, Brittany Cassidy, and Lydia Beckman, received CSAC Second Team. Two team members, Shae Risley and Taylor Klever, received CSAC Honorable Mention.
 
In 2016, Fleagle led the Knights to a CSAC Championship game. At the time it was the fourth consecutive CSAC title game and a first in program history. The 2016 team finished 13-6 overall, the most number of wins since the 2001 season, and 8-1 in CSAC action and was honored with seven players selected to the 2016 CSAC All-Conference Teams.
 
The Neumann University women's lacrosse team was one of 131 DIII programs to earn recognition as a 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. In addition to the team accolades, Alexa McIntyre and Danni Hall were named to the academic roll for achieving a 3.5 or greater GPA.
 
Coach Fleagle’s overall record is 70-41 in six seasons at Neumann. The 2016 team received its fifth straight ECAC bid for the successful season.
 
Fleagle continues to accomplish many program “firsts” during her tenure at Neumann. The 2012 team finished number one in ground balls for Division III women’s lacrosse. She has coached 35 All-CSAC selected players during her tenure at Neumann.

Fleagle came to Aston after serving four seasons as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at St. Bonaventure University from 2007-2011. The “Bonnies” competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference at the Division I level. Fleagle started her coaching career at Philadelphia University. She served as the Assistant Coach for the 2003 season and was elevated to Head Coach on September 1, 2004. She spent five seasons with Philadelphia University Rams and instantly turned the lacrosse program around, consistently being ranked in the top 10 for Division II Women’s Lacrosse. The Rams captured the 2007 ECAC crown under Fleagle a first for the Rams program.
 
Fleagle has served on the All-Region, All-American Division III Women’s Lacrosse Committee as well as the ECAC Division III Women’s Lacrosse Selection Committee. She also served on the 2011 NCAA Regional Advisory Championships Division I Lacrosse Committee.

In 2011 Christy was inducted into Cabrini’s Athletic Hall of Fame. A native of Aldan, Pa., Fleagle was a standout player at Archbishop Prendergast High School where she was named Philadelphia Catholic League MVP in 1996 and 1997. A highly recruited high school athlete Fleagle went on to a stellar four-year career at Cabrini College, where she was a two-time Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) MVP, helping the Cavaliers to four consecutive PAC Championships. Fleagle led the nation in saves during her freshmen debut, recording a .675 save percentage. In addition, she was part of a Cabrini squad that earned three straight postseason invitations to the ECAC and NCAA tournaments. In 1999 her team went on to participate in the ECAC tournament. In 2000 and 2001 the Cabrini squad participated in the NCAA tournament.

Fleagle earned a bachelor's degree from Cabrini College and earned a Master’s Degree from Neumann in Organization Strategic Leadership in May of 2014.

In May of 2014, Christy married Thomas Fleagle of Honey Brook, Pa, the couple now resides in Pennsylvania with their daughter Tessa.
