SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – The No. 4 seeded Neumann College women's tennis team faced the No. 1 seed Gwynedd-Mercy College in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) team championships Saturday afternoon.
Neumann fell to Gwynedd-Mercy, 5-0. The Griffins took the doubles matches. Alana Rumpel and Chelsea Donde defeated Alison Trout and Courtney Hartel, 8-4, in No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 doubles, Ashley Bowie and Jessica Scarpello won over Ali DeTolla and Rachel Coladonato, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles, Erin Fallon and Heather Morgan defeated Lindsay Ravior and Michelle Steward, 8-4.
In singles play, No. 4 singles was finished first as Bowie defeated Ravior, 6-0, 6-0. Rumpel won the decisive point at No. 1 singes with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Trout.
Neumann will face Albright on Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Reading, Pa.
