ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's tennis team defeated Cedar Crest College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action at Sun Valley High School.
The Knights came away from doubles play up 2-1. Ali DeTolla and Rachel Coladonato won their match at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. The duo of Michelle Steward and Lindsey Ravior won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Neumann took five of the six singles matches en route to the 7-2 win. DeTolla won her match at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Courtney Hartel defeated her No. 3 opponent, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Ravior won at No. 4 singes, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 4 singles, Steward won by a score of 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4 and Coladonato won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
"It was a very big win for our team! This is always one of the toughest matches on the schedule because our teams are always so close!" said head coach Chris Gosseaux. "Both teams are battling to make the playoffs this season and I am very proud of our team's effort today!"
The Knights improve to 7-7 overall, 6-2 in conference play. Cedar Crest is now 7-5, 3-2 in CSAC action. Neumann will host Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday at 3:30 in a non-conference match.
