Men’s Basketball to Open Season at York College

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College men's basketball team is set to open its 2008-09 season at York College on Saturday, November 15th at 6 p.m.

 

The Knights are under the direction of second year head coach Mike Gallagher.  Last season, Neumann went 10-15 overall and 8-8 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). This season, the Knights were picked to finished third in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

 

Neumann has seven returning players from last year's team. Senior brothers Mike and Eli Hitchens, senior Anthony Hodges and junior Na'Sheed Liton will serve as this seasons captains. Also returning are juniors Ty Robinson and Toure' Wright and sophomore Marquise Boggs.

 

Eli Hitchens started in 22 of the 25 games last season. He averaged 11.0 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and played almost 30 minutes a contest. Mike Hitchens started in 15 of the games and averaged 7.0 ppg.

 

Na'Sheed Linton started in 20 games and averaged 9.0 ppg. Marquise Boggs rounds out the returning players that saw time in all 25 contests last season. Boggs led the team with 33 steals last season.

 

Among the newcomers is transfer Sean Armstrong. Armstrong is a junior and played at Alvernia. Kevin Jones, a sophomore, and freshmen Patrick O'Connor, Simon O'Leary, Jared Poindexter and Mik eWalukiewicz round out the incoming class.

 

The make-up of three seniors, four juniors, two sophomores and four freshmen will look to play hard and make a statement in the CSAC.
