ASTON, Pa – The Neumann College women's ice hockey team completed the weekend sweep of Utica College with a 3-1 win Saturday afternoon in ECAC West action at Ice Works.
Nicki Blazenko netted two goals for the Knights. Jessica Schroeder added two assists. Holly Williams netted an insurance goal with six second left in regulation.
Blazenko put Neumann (4-2, 4-2 ECAC West) with just under three minutes remaining in the first period off assists from Carly Bondra and Schroeder. Utica (3-3-1, 1-3-1 ECAC West) tied the game at one on a power play goal by Becky Heim with less than two minutes left in the second period.
Blazenko netted the game winning goal at the 13:26 mark of the third period off a pass from Schroeder. Williams netted her goal on the power play to seal the win and the sweep.
Mel Brunet made 21 saves in net for the Knights. Kelley Peers had 18 saves for the Pioneers.
Neumann, who has won four straight after dropping the first two game of the season, will be back in action in non-conference play on Tuesday as it travels to Wesleyan College. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m.
