ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College men's basketball fell to visiting Cabrini College, 66-63, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
Sean Armstrong led the Knights with a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Hitchens and Mike Walukiewicz each scored nine points.
Glenn Washington led the Cavaliers with 22 points and was 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Kevin Misecicius scored 11 points.
Neumann started the game strong, scoring the games first eight points and holding Cabrini off the board until the 14:20 mark of the half. However, the Cavalier netted the next eight points to tie the game at eight-all. The Knights rebounded by building its lead up to 10, 29-19, with 3:25 left in the half. Cabrini ended the half on an 11-4 run and Neumann took a 33-30 at halftime.
The second half began with four ties and five lead changes before Cabrini built up an eight point lead, 51-59, with 4:49 left. Two free-throws by Michael Hitchens with 1:34 left brought Neumann to within two points, 62-60. Two free-throws by Cabrini's Charles Bush built the lead back up to four. Marquise Boggs answered with a lay-up. Eli Hitchens made one-of-two free-throws to get within one, 64-63, but two free-throws by Washington sealed the win for Cabrini as a three-point attempt by Boggs with the clock winding down was off the mark.
Neumann goes on the road for its next three games. The first stop will be at Centenary College on Thursday. The Knights defeated Cyclones earlier this season by a 60-52 score. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
