Men's Basketball Holds Off Roger Williams

, Fla. – The Neumann College men's basketball team wrapped up its trip to Walk Disney World with a 52-50 win over Roger Williams University Sunday afternoon.

 

Na'Sheed Linton led the Knights with 14 points. Ty Robinson scored 13 points. Bill Barrett scored 20 points for Roger Williams.

 

The first half featured four ties and neither team taking more then a four point lead. Anthony Hodges hit a jumper with 1:28 left in the first half to give the Knights a two point lead, 28-26, at halftime.

 

Neumann held Roger Williams to four points in the first seven minutes of the second half while it scored 12 to take a 40-32 advantage and its biggest lead of the game. Roger Williams climbed back to within one points, 43-42 with 6:22 left and 45-44 with 2:51 remaining. Linton hit a jumper and Robinson knocked down two free throws to put the Knights up by five with 36 second left.

 

Roger Williams' Barrett hit a lay-up with 22 seconds left, but missed a free throw that would have cut the Knights lead to two.  Patrick O'Connor made two free throws for the Knights with 18 second remaining to go back up by five. The teams traded free throws and Barrett hit a three-pointer with two second left, but it was not enough as the Knights held on for the 52-50 win. Neumann did not trail during the second half.

 

Neumann will host North Carolina Wesleyan College in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday, January 6 at 2 p.m. in Bruder Gymnasium.
