ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's tennis team defeated conference opponent Rosemont College, 5-4, Tuesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up.
The duo of Michelle Steward and Jasper Thomson (second doubles) and the third doubles team of Kayla Chamberlain and Allison Trout picked up the Knights two points in doubles play winning, both winning 8-3.
The Knights depended on the depth of their squad to pick up the remaining three points to clinch the match. Senior Lindsey Ravior defeated Rosemont's Kate Clarkson, 6-2, 6-2, at fourth singles. Steward won at fifth singles over Barbara Lally, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Gabrielle Porcelli at sixth singles clinched the match for Neumann defeating Lauren Rivera in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Neumann improves to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Knights return back onto the courts tomorrow when they play a scrimmage against Gloucester County College. The match is set to start at 3:30pm.
