ASTON, Pa. - The 2009-10 Neumann University men's basketball team is anxious to begin its season in the brand new Mirenda Center for Sports, Spirituality, and Character Development under first year Head Coach Lenny Stanziano.
The team has eight returners who all contributed during the 2008-09 season. The veterans will look to mesh with a group of newcomers leading up to the season opener against Penn State-Abington on November 21st at 2 p.m.
Na'Sheed Linton returns for his senior season looking to build upon his 2008-09 season where he lead the team in minutes played, field goal percentage, assists and steals. Linton is joined by Seniors Ty Robinson, Sean Armstrong, and Toure' Wright.
The versatile 6-3 Robinson will be looked to build upon his five points per game average from last season as will Armstrong, who contributed across the board for the Knights. Wright, the 6-6 athletic big man, will provide depth and athletic size in the post for the 2009-2010 season.
Marquise Boggs leads the underclass returners. Boggs, the aggressive guard will look to help Linton in the backcourt and, as the second leading returning scorer, will be looked to continue his scoring ways for Neumann.
The sophomore duo of Mike Walukiewicz and Patrick O'Connor also add depth and skill to the Knight line-up. Walukiewicz, who led the team in three-point field goals made and has the highest returning three-point field goal percentage, will look to continue his shooting ways while O'Connor, the hard-nosed forward who led the team in free throw percentage at 90%, will look to increase his role with the Knights.
Hard working sophomore Jared Poindexter will compete for time on the court as well after appearing in several games in 2008-09.
Several newcomers will look to compete and help the Neumann University Knights compete in the 2009-2010 season.
