ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Delaware Valley College, 73-54, Friday night at the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College.
Brittany Whetts notched her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also had three blocks.
The first half was low scoring. DelVal built its lead up to eight points, 17-9, with 5:33 left in the first half. In the final five minutes, Neumann held the Aggies to two points and had a 7-2 run to end the half. DelVal held a 19-16 advantage.
That was as close as Neumann would come, as it did not score until Nicole Feby hit a free throw 2:39 into the second half. With the score 34-24 Delaware Valley, with 13:11 left on the clock, the Aggies went on an 11-3 run over the next three minutes to jump to an 18 point lead. DelVal would not look back and won the game 73-54.
Neumann (1-2) will face Clarkson in the consolation game tomorrow. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
