ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team fell to Immaculata University, 2-1, Thursday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal game.
Immaculata scored the first goal just 6:40 into the game. Neumann would keep play in Immaculata's end of the field for most of the half and outshoot the Mighty Macs, 8-3 in the first 45 minutes. The Knights had a shot go off of the post with three minutes left on the clock in the first half. Immaculata took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Neumann kept the pressure on the second half, and the persistence paid off as Nathan Beidemann scored for the Knights in the 74th minute to tie the game. But, Immaculata struck quickly and netted the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute. The Mighty Macs held on for the final 12 minutes to take the 2-1 win.
The Knights outshot the Mighty Macs 17-6 in the game.
With the win, Immaculata advances to the CSAC Championship game where it will meet Cabrini on Saturday. Neumann is now 9-8-2 and will wait to see if it will be picked for an ECAC Tournament bid.
