BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann College women's basketball team defeated the College of Notre Dame, 78-64, Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Brittany Whetts led Neumann with her 18th double-double of the season with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Cecily Scavicchio sank four three-pointers en route to her 16 points. Katie Young pulled down 12 rebounds. The team hit 11 baskets from behind the arc.
Kendra Baldwin scored 23 points for the Gators. Khadija Mitchell added 15.
Neumann did not trail at any point during the game. Jordan Elgart opened the game with a three-pointer. The Knights built their lead up to 12 points, 24-12, with 11:22 remaining in the first half, but the Gators would go on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 26-all with 6:11 on the clock. Neumann took a three point advantage, 39-36, into halftime.
The Knights built up their lead to 11 points within the first five minutes of the second half. From that point, Neumann did not relinquish its double-digit lead.
Neumann will wrap up its regular season at home on Thursday as it hosts Marywood. The Knights are currently in a three-way tie for second play in the CSAC with Gwynedd-Mercy and Centenary. Tip-off on Thursday is set for 6 p.m.
