AUGUSTA, N.J. – The Neumann College baseball team defeated Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Centenary College, 12-8, Friday afternoon.
Mike Gallagher and Kevin Lengyel each had three RBI. Billy Canady scored four runs. Lengyel went 6.2 innings for the Knights, striking out four. Ray Schmoltze pitched 2.1 innings for the win.
Centenary took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first two innings. The Knights score four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-3 lead. The Cyclones answered with three runs in the home half of the third to regain the lead, 6-4.
Centenary was held to two runs over the final six innings. After the seventh inning, Centenary held an 8-6 advantage. The Knights cut the deficit to one in the as Jason Vilimas knocked in Canady.
In the Neumann half of the ninth innings, the Knights put together five runs to jump out to a 12-8 lead and held on for the win.
Neumann and Centenary will meet again on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for noon.

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College baseball split a pair of conference games with Centenary College Saturday afternoon. Scores of the games was Neumann 7, Centenary 2 in game one and Cyclones 7, Knights 0 in game two.
In game one, Centenary started strong and built a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Knights' pitcher Scott Hammell settled down and did not allow a run the rest of the contest, including retiring nine in a row from the second to fourth innings.
After Neumann scored a run in the second inning, Matt Grossi hit a two run homerun in the third to knot the game at three.
Kevin Lengyel knocked in the go ahead run with a double in the fifth inning. The Knights scored three unearned insurance runs in the sixth for the 7-3 win.
In game two, the Knights could not get the bats going. The Cyclones scored a run in the second, tacked on three more in the fourth and seventh.
Stan Sauk started the game and went 3.2 innings. Joseph Slater went 3.1 innings in relief.
Neumann will travel to Arcadia for a non-conference single game on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
