Baseball Falls at Eastern

, Pa. – The Neumann College baseball team loss to Eastern University, 8-6, Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

 

Matt Gallagher had three RBI for the Knights. Nick Martin scored two runs. Kevin Lengyel and Kevin Flanigan each had two hits.

 

Sean Quigley started the game, going 3.1 innings. George Hatton picked up the loss in relief, going 2.2 innings. Neumann had four pitchers go the final two innings.

 

Neumann opened the top of the first with four runs. Martin walked to start the game followed by a single by Lengyel and a double by Gallagher. The Knights added a run in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

 

Eastern scored three runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 5-3. The Eagles then scored five runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-5 advantage.

 

Neumann scored one run in the top of the ninth, but could not overcome the deficit.

 

Neumann will face Philadelphia Biblical this weekend in conference action. The Knights will be at home on Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The teams will then meet for a doubleheader on Saturday at PBU starting at noon.
