GENEVA, N.Y. -
Jeff Rodell scored the game winning goal with 4.3 seconds left on the clock to lift the Neumann College men's ice hockey team over Hobart College, 3-2, Saturday night to win the ECAC West Championship.
Jesse Cole notched a goal and an assist for the Knights.
Matt Ward had two assists.
Hobart opened the scoring in the first period and took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Jeremy Gates scored his second collegiate goal and second in the playoffs on the power play 8:20 into the second period. Cole assisted on the goal.
Cole then scored with 15 second remaining in the second to put Neumann up 2-1 heading into the third.
The Statesmen tied the game at two with 4:59 left in the third, but with the clock winding down, Rodell scored his second goal of the season off a pass from Ward to win the game.
Ross MacKinnon made 25 saves in net for the win. Neumann is now 17-9-2 and will learn its fate in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
Jeff Rodell was named the Most Outstanding Player.
