ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College softball team swept a pair of games against Philadelphia Biblical Thursday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSA) action. Game scores were 7-0 and 5-2.
In game one, Caitlin Hanrahan and Kimberley Kirkpatrick each had two RBI en route to the 7-0 win. Megan Mazur had two hits and an RBI. Angela Sebasto pitched seven innings for the shutout. She allowed just two hits and struck out 12.
The Knights scored five runs in the fifth inning to seal the win. Sebasto and Jenn Goslin opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Hanrahan then hit a double before Kirkpatrick hit a two-run single.
In game two, Deana Christy led the game off with a double and the Knights put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first. Neumann would add two more runs in the third.
The Crimson Eagles added two unearned runs, one in the fourth and one in the fifth to make the score 4-2. Jenn Goslin hit a solo home run, her ninth of the season, in the bottom of the sixth for an insurance run.
Rachel Purpuro pitched five innings for the win. She allowed just two runs, none earned, on five hits and struck out three. Brittany Campbell picked up her first save of the season. She went two innings.
Neumann improves to 22-8 on the season and 15-1 in the conference. The Knights will host the Cavaliers of Cabrini College on Saturday in a conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
