Baseball Splits at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann College Baseball team split a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader with Marywood University Saturday afternoon. Game scores where Neumann 13, Marywood 7 and Marywood 10, Neumann 8.

 

In the first game, Matt Gallagher was 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Kevin Lengyel knocked in two runs. Scott Hammell started the game for the Knights, going six innings. He allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits. He struck out three.

 

The Knights capitalized on three Pacer errors and two wild pitches in the second inning to score six unearned runs. Gallagher hit a homerun in the inning.

 

Lengyel had a two-run double in the third inning. Gallagher then hit his second homerun of the afternoon in the fourth inning.

 

In game two, Jason Vilimas had two RBI for the Knights. Lengyel scored three runs and Kevin Flanigan plated two. Stan Sauk started the game and went 3.2 innings. Sean Quigley pitched two inning and took the loss.

 

Neumann scored first in the first inning as Matt Grossi doubled in Lengyel. The Knights added another run in the top of the second before the Pacers scored three runs in the home part of the second to take a 3-2 lead.

 

Marywood added two more runs in the third and three in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead. Neumann was able to scored five runs over the last two innings, but it wasn't enough for a comeback.

 

Neumann will face Philadelphia Biblical on Tuesday in conference action. First-pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
