ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College baseball team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University, 19-4, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game Tuesday afternoon.
Matt Gallagher had four RBI to lead the Knights. Kevin Flanigan, Ryan Laymon and George Hatton all had three RBI. Ray Schmoltze went six inning for the win. He allowed three runs, two earned, and struck out six.
In the second inning, Neumann sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 13 runs. Gallagher capped the scoring with a two-run home run.
Neumann clinched its first playoff berth in 10 years last weekend with two wins over Marywood University. The playoffs will begin next Wednesday with two games taking place on the campuses of the No. 1 & 2 seeds. The on Friday and Saturday, the Championship rounds will be at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, Pa.
This weekend will play a key role in the seeding of the No. 2-4 spots. Keystone College has clinched the No. 1 seed, going 15-0 in conference action. Centenary College wrapped up CSAC play 7-8.
Gwynedd-Mercy is currently 8-4 while Neumann is 7-5 and will face each other this weekend in a three-game series.
Neumann will travel to Haverford College for a non-conference match-up tomorrow. The Knights will wrap-up their regular season this weekend against Gwynedd-Mercy College.
