ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College baseball team exploded for 40 runs in two games as it swept Philadelphia Biblical in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference play. Game scores were 16-2 and 24-7.
In the first game, Kevin Lengyel was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, four RBI and scored two runs. Eric Silakowski went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs. Scott Hammell went six innings for the win. He struck out four and allowed just one run. Zac Penman pitched the seventh inning.
Neumann scored five runs in the first inning, however only one was earned. The Knights would add three more runs in the second to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
The Knights added four runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Lincoln Schrock hit a two-run single in the sixth.
In game two, Matt Gallagher had four RBI for the Knights. Matt Grossi and Bobby Callan each had three. Lincoln Schrock scored three runs and was 3-for-3. Stan Sauk went five innings for the win. He struck out eight. Eddy Darrah and Art Wharton each pitched an inning.
The Crimson Eagles bats came alive in the top of the first and took an early 3-0 lead. The Knights bats stayed hot and answered with eight runs in the home half of the first. Bobby Callan and Matt Gallagher each hit two-run doubles.
Neumann added to its lead with six runs in the second. Matt Grossi had a two-run single in the inning. To seal the win, the Knights capped the game with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The teams will meet against on Tuesday in a single game. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
