ALLENTOWN, Pa – The Neumann University women's tennis team defeated Cedar Crest 5-4 Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match. The match was decided on the last singles match.

The Knights started the match slow, losing two out of three doubles points. First and third doubles teams battled at their respective spots, but fell 8-6. The duo of Michelle Steward and Jasper Thomson defeated Laura Shivley and Sarah Wicks, 8-3 at second doubles.

Neumann picked up 4 points in single play. Thomson won at second singles, defeating Alexandria Kuebler, 6-0, 6-2. Lindsey Ravior won at fourth singles. After losing the first set, she came back to win the match,6-2, 6-7, 13-11 second set tie breaker. Steward won at fifth singles after dropping the first set, but ended up winning, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, over Sara Messner. Freshman Gabrielle Porcelli defeated Amy Dichter at six singles 7-5, 6-4 to win the match for the Knights.

Neumann improves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

The Knights are back on the road, Monday when they head to Messiah College for non-conference action. The match is set to start at 4pm.
