LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Keystone College, 69-65, Wednesday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal contest. With the win, Neumann will face No. 1 seeded Cabrini College in the Championship game on Friday evening.
Marquise Boggs led the Knights with 14 points. Na'Sheed Linton and Ty Robinson each had 12 points. Patrick O'Conner added 11. Sean Armstrong pulled down eight boards for Neumann.
Kenneth Hardnett scored a game-high 23 points for the Giants. Ryne Luce netted 14 while Spencer added 11.
Keystone led for most of the game, but the two teams were tied at 62-all with 2:37 left in regulation. Mike Walukiewicz hit two free throws to give the Knights a two-point advantage. Boggs then hit a jumper and two free throws to put Neumann up by six, 68-62, with 17 seconds left.
The Giants were fouled on a three-pointer and made all three free throws to make the score 68-65. Armstrong then hit one free throw with eight seconds remaining to put the game out of reach and send Neumann to the Championship game.
The game started out slow after Keystone hit its first three-pointer. The game remained 3-0 until 15:46 when the Giants hit another shot from beyond the arc to take a 6-0 lead. Robinson hit Neumann's first basketball 15:30 into the game.
The Giants went on an 8-0 run to take a 24-15 lead at the 5:23 mark of the first. Linton hit a three with one second left in the first, but Keystone took a 35-25 lead into the break.
Keystone held a 12 point advantage, 53-41, with 10:22 left in regulation. The Knights then went on an 11-3 run over the next five minute to cut the Giants lead to one, 53-52. Keystone would build its lead up the three, but Neumann would the tie the game at 62 and take its one and only lead of the game.
Neumann (16-11) will travel to Cabrini College on Friday evening for the CSAC Championship game. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
