IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games against Immaculata University Saturday afternoon. Game scores were Neumann 11, Immaculata 3 (5 inn.) and Neumann 10, Immaculata 1.
In game one, the Knights were down 2-0 early, but came back with a six-run third inning. Lauren Castiello, Jacki Herrington and Crystal Perlman each had two RBI during the top of the third. Perlman's two RBI came on her first collegiate homerun. In the fifth inning, Neumann took advantage of two Immaculata errors and put five more runs on the board. Brittany Campbell pitched the complete game for the win. She struck out four.
In the second game, Neumann plated seven runs in the top of the seventh inning. Herrington hit a two-run single in the seventh. In the fifth inning, Kim Kirkpatrick broke open a 1-1 tie with a two-run homerun. Rachel Purpuro went 7.0 innings for the win.
Neumann will host Centenary College a week from Tuesday (4/6) in a CSAC doubleheader. The first game is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
