LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of games at Keystone College Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Games scores were Neumann 4, Keystone 0 and Neumann 6, Keystone 3.
In game one, Brittany Campbell threw a two-hit shutout in the 4-0 win. The Knights put two runs on the board in the first and two more in the fifth inning. Jennifer Goslin was 4-for-4. Jacki Herrington knocked in three of the four runs. Kim Kirkpatrick scored two runs.
In game two, Neumann got on the board early with an unearned run in the first inning. The Knights then added a run in the third. Keystone scored three runs in the home half of the third for a 3-2 lead. The Knights went back on top in the sixth inning with a two-run double by Kirkpatrick. Goslin finished 3-for-3 with three RBI. Kirkpatrick went 2-for-5, scored three runs and knocked in two.
Rachel Purpuro went 5.0 innings for the win. She allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and struck out five. Sarah McGann picked up the save and struck out four.
Goslin went 7-for-7 in the two games. Neumann improves to 13-11 overall and 11-1 in the CSAC. The Knights travel to non-conference for Misericordia on Wednesday for non-conference action beginning at 3 p.m.
