LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University, 20-1, Friday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up.
The Knights put seven on the board and batted around, plus three, in the first inning. Gary Mitchell knocked in the first two runs on a double to left center. With two outs, the Knights had the next six batters each base to plate five runs.
PBU scored its only run, an unearned run, in the bottom of the first.
Mitchell and Joe Armata each had solo shots for Neumann. Mitchell rolled three's in the game, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Armata also went 3-for-3 from the plate, knocked in four runs and scored three. Bobby Callan was 4-for-5 in the lead-off spot. He scored two and knocked in one.
Josh Krautwald went 6.0 innings for the win. He allowed one run, unearned, on two hits and struck out 11. George Hatton and Joe Slater each pitched an inning.
Neumann (10-13, 5-5 CSAC) and PBU will meet again tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader. First-pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
