GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took one game from Gwynedd-Mercy College, 9-1 in 6 innings, Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game two was called due rain in the second inning.

Kim Kirkpatrick was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Knights. Jennifer Goslin went 3-for-4 and knocked in two runs. Stephanie Marrone was 2-for-2 at the plate, scored three runs and knocked in one. Brittany Campbell went 6.0 innings for the win. She allowed one run, none earned, on five hits and struck out nine.

The Knights struck early and plated two runs in the first inning. Both teams scored a run in the third inning. Neumann sent eight batters to the plate and put three runs on the board. Kirkpatrick hit a two-run shot to left field in the sixth inning. Neumann added an unearned run to take the 9-1 lead and win.

Neumann (14-13, 12-1) will host Notre Dame tomorrow in CSAC Action. First-pitch is slated for 1 p.m. The seniors will be honored after the games.
