RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept Cabrini College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Friday afternoon. Game scores were 10-0 and 9-0, both in five innings.
The games also mark the end of the regular season for the Knights, who finish first in the CSAC and will host the Tournament starting next Friday. Neumann ends its season 23-16 overall and 21-1 in the conference.
Brittany Campbell held Cabrini to just one hit in the first game as Neumann won 10-0. The Knights jumped on the board early with five runs in the top of the first, capped by a two-run single by Callie Emel.
Up 6-0, Neumann added four more runs in the fifth inning. Deanna Christy hit a two-run single to knock in Jacki Herrington and Crystal Perlman to start the scoring.
The second game started like the first game with Neumann plating five runs. Emel again capped the scoring with a two-run single. Herrington added to the 7-0 lead with two RBI in the fourth inning.
Rachel Purpuro went 5.0 innings for the win. She allowed just three hits and struck out four.
