Neumann Holds Off Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team held off Immaculata University 12-10 Friday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game.

 

Kevin Flanigan had two hits, scored two runs and had two RBI in the win. Gary Mitchell also had two hits and plated two runs. Josh Krautwald (4-0) pitched 6.0 innings for the win. He struck out four. George Hatton and Erik Klimoff also pitched for the Knights.

 

Joe Rawlings led the Mighty Macs with five RBI. Aaron Dietrich started the game and went 5.2 innings in the loss.

 

Neumann jumped on the board in the second innings and scored seven runs. Joe Armata hit a two-run double to center in the inning. Kevin Flanigan then hit a two-run double in the sixth inning and Neumann took a 12-5 lead going into the ninth inning.

 

Immaculata did not go quietly and scored five runs in the top of the ninth, including a bases clearing triple by Rawlings. Klimoff came into the game to get the final outs of the game.

 

Neumann (17-13-1, 11-5 CSAC) and Immaculata (11-22, 5-11 CSAC) will meet again tomorrow in Aston for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
