MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – With time winding down in overtime, Brent Tamane puts the game winner into the back of the net giving Neumann University the 4-3 win over Morrisville Saturday afternoon in men's ice hockey action.
Aaron Keaney of Neumann led the cat and mouse game by netting a goal with 6:39 remaining in the first period. With the period winding down Bobby Cass scores a power play goal to tie the matchup 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
Neumann retook the lead early in the second period with a power play goal by Michael Rey. The lead wouldn't last long as Cass notches the game up a little more than a minute later with his second goal (power play) of the tilt. Morrisville then took its first lead of the game as Rob Sgarbossa scored close to the half way point of the second period. With 1:33 remaining in the second period Tamane tied the game up at three as it would remain going into the second intermission.
With neither team putting in a goal during the third period, there was some free hockey to be played in Morrisville. Just as it seemed the game would end in a 3-3 tie, Tamane scores his second goal of the game with 33 seconds remaining to give the Knights a 4-3 overtime victory
Scott Farrell dished out three assists while William Lacasse and Sean Crozier each had two assists. Matt Tendler made 32 saves in net.
With the win the Knights improve to 9-5-3 overall. Neumann will host Manhattanville next weekend in ECAC West action.
