Knights Fall to Giants in OT

ASTON, Pa. – Overtime basketball was played in the Mirenda Center Thursday night as Keystone College topped Neumann University 80-75 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men's basketball action.

 

Mark Blount led the Knights with a double-double, dropping 20 points and bringing down 14 boards. Other contributors for the Knights were Dom Gibson with 16 points while Terrance Clark and Bill Slade both had 13 points.

 

Tercel Taylor led the Giants in scoring with 23 points while Malcolm Boone contributes with a double-double scoring 20 points and adding 11 rebounds.  Other double-digit scorers for Keystone were Kenneth Hardnett with 18 points and Gary Robinson scoring 10.

 

The Knights held the Giants scoreless for almost four minutes of the extra period. Gibson and Slade each went 1-for-2 from the line to put Neumann up 74-72 until Keystone sank the first basket with 1:28 remaining to tie the game 74-74. It was all Keystone from there as a couple key turnovers and missed shots by Neumann in the final minute allowed the Giants to make key free throws and hold on to the win.

 

Keystone controlled the game from the get-go as they would go on a 9-0 run to take an early 9-3 lead.  Neumann would counter with a 9-0 run of their own as the Knights closed the gap to one 15-14 with 8:28 remaining in the half.   Keystone took a 28-24 lead into half-time following a three-pointer at the buzzer by Robinson.

 

In the second half, the Giants come out firing as Keystone built the lead to 12 with just around 13 minutes left in regulation.  The Knights would not go down without a fight as they clawed their way back to take the lead 55-54 with 9:42 on the clock, their first lead since the beginning of the contest. The Knights again would trail by as many as six with four minutes reaming in the game however with 46 seconds remaining, Slade lined up a three and nailed it to take the game into an extra period.

 

Neumann went 18-21 from the line, 15-15 in regulation. Keystone was 10-21.

 

With the loss, the Knights fall to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in CSAC play.  Keystone improves to 12-2 overall, 6-2 CSAC. The Knights will travel to Baptist Bible Saturday afternoon.  Tip-off is set for 2 pm
