Knights Comeback Falls Short at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team dropped a 71-69 decision to Cabrini College Monday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

Terrance Clark netted 13 points for the Knights. Rich Whitten added 12 points. Mark Blount notched nine boards, eight points and three blocks.

 

John Boyd led all scorers with 26 points. Cory Lemons notched 20 points for Cabrini.

 

Cabrini held the lead for the majority of the game and built its lead up to as many as nine throughout the contest.

 

The Cavaliers held an eight point lead, 62-54, with 7:31 left in regulation. The Knights then notched the next eight points over the next two minutes to tie the game at 62. Cabrini responded with two straight three-pointers and a tip-in to take back the eight point advantage.

 

The Knights did not go quietly and Blount sane two free throws with 48 seconds remaining to get within two, 71-69. Cabrini missed on a free throw, twice, but Neumann could not capitalize.

 

Neumann is now 8-8 on the season and 5-4 in the CSAC. Cabrini is 11-4 overall and 8-1 in the CSAC. The Knights host Centenary on Thursday in a conference double-header. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
