ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team went 2-0 in the first day of the Homecoming Classic. The Knights defeated Rowan University and Wilkes University 3-0.
Neumann opened the day with a 3-0 win over Rowan. Game scores were 25-13, 25-22, 25-17. The Knights were down in the second set as it drew to a close, but they would not let the Profs slip through their fingers and came back to take the match is straight sets.
Katelin Kuklentz led the team with 11 kills at a .367 percentage and 14 kills. Katie Young had eight kills and a team high .389 hitting percentage.
Cecily Scavicchio dished out 36 assists. Victoria Limmina notched 16 digs.
In the second match of the day, the Knights swept Wilkes in three, 25-17, 25-20, 25-14.
Kuklentz again led the team with 11 kills. Natalie George notched nine kills. Both players had a hitting percentage of .318. Scavicchio handed out 30 assists and 12 digs. Limmina added 13 digs.
The Homecoming Classic continues tomorrow. The Knights (17-8) have matches against Nazareth and Ursinus beginning at 10 AM.
