LANCASATER, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Kean University 61-51 on Saturday evening in the second day of the F&M Tip-Off Tournament.
Mark Blount led the Knights with 14 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. The five blocks sets a program record for blocks. The sophomore now has 81 in just 31 contests.
Neumann was down by as many as 12 in the first half, but three consecutive three-pointers and four points by Patrick O'Conner put the Knights back into the game. The Knights would score five of the final six points in the first half and hold a 27-23 lead at the break.
The teams would remain close for the first part of the second half and would be tied at 41 with 10:36 left on the clock. The Knights went on a 17-4 run over the next seven and a half minutes to make the score 58-45.
Neumann would hang on for take home the 51-61 win.
Kean was led by Michael Buron with 11 points.
Neumann (2-1) will host a Coaches vs. Cancer Classic next Saturday. Ursinus and Eastern will tip-off at 12 PM, followed by Widener and Cabrini at 2:15 and Neumann and Delaware Valley at 4:30.
