Men's Basketball to host Marywood in CSAC First Round

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team will host Marywood University in a first round contest in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs on Saturday, February 19 at 3 p.m.

 

Neumann won both games against Marywood this season. Back on December 13, the Knights defeated the Pacers 82-64 at home. Patrick O'Conner led Neumann with 13 points and eight rebounds in the game. Marquise Boggs and Bill Slade each with 12 and Rich Whitten added 11.

 

Three weeks ago, Neumann won 82-69 up in Scranton. O'Connor again led the team, this time with 21 points. Four other Knights scored in double-figures as well; Boggs with 18, Mike Walukiewicz with 15 and Mark Blount and Whitten each with 10.

 

For the season, the Knights are being led by Boggs, who is averaging 16.9 points per game. O'Connor is just behind him, netting 16.5 ppg. The junior leads the team in free throw shooting, hitting 81.8-percent of his throws.

 

Blount is leading the team with 7.6 rebounds per game. O'Connor also adds 6.4. Blount set the season record for rebounds earlier this season. Currently, the freshman has 61.

 

Terrance Clark and Walukiewicz have started all 25 games this season for the Knights.

 

John Foreman leads the Pacers, averaging 10.5 ppg. Tyler Reinhard is netting 9.8. Lenny Martin leads the team, grabbing 7.1 rpg.

 

Marywood finished the regular season 13-12 overall, 9-9 in the CSAC for the fifth seed. Neumann wrapped-up its season on a five-game winning streak to finish 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the conference for the fourth seed.

 

In the other first round game, No. 3 Keystone College will host No. 6 Immaculata University.

 

The winners of the first round games will advance to the semifinals. No. 1 seeded Cabrini College and No. 2 seeded Gwynedd-Mercy will each host a semifinal game on Tuesday, February, 26 at 7 p.m.
