WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Neumann University baseball team opened its season with a 13-9 win at Catholic University Saturday afternoon.
Michael Tomeo had three hits and three RBI for the Knights. Kevin Flannigan scored three runs.
Catholic Scored three runs in the second and three runs in the fourth to jump out to a 6-1 lead.
The Knights put up an eight runs fifth inning to take the lead. Tomeo hit a two-run double in the inning. Catholic then made it a 9-8 NU lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Knights added three more runs in the top of the eighth, including a two-run double by Bill Pace.
The Knights had seven pitchers throw in the game.
Neumann (1-0) will travel to Washington (Md.) next weekend for a single game.
