Baseball Picks Up Extra Inning Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University baseball teams used four two-out unearned runs in the 11th inning to win 7-3 at Washington (Md.) College on Saturday afternoon.

 

Kevin Flannigan had three hits and two RBI for the Knights. Sean Quigley picked up the win.

 

Neumann got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second inning. Bobby McCormick and Joey Armata knocked in the runs.

 

Washington would tie the game at two in the bottom of the third inning. Both teams would score a run in the eighth inning and the game would go into extra innings.

 

Mathieu Vallieres would break the tie when his triple knocked in Bobby Callen in the top of the 11th. Flannigan would hit a two-run double as well to give Neumann some insurance.

 

Quigley, who pitched the 10th inning, picked up the win. Erik Klimoff came in to pitch for the Knights in the home half of the 11th.

 

Neumann (2-0) will travel to Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
