ASTON Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team swept the double-header against the Baptist Bible College Saturday afternoon by scores of 33-0 and 20-4.
Russ Gilliam got the win for the Knights in the first game going four innings, six strikeouts while giving up zero hits.
Eric Silakowski and Andrew Snow both contributed with grand slams in the bottom of the fifth. Snow went 3-3 scoring four runs and finishing with six RBI.
Adrian LaRowe pitched one inning, striking out two. Sean Quigley pitched the final two innings, striking out six and only giving up one hit.
The Knights set the Neumann's single-game record with the 33 runs scored.
JJ Sims got the win for the Knights going four innings with four strike outs and giving up only one earned run in game two.
Josh Krautwald pitched two innings, striking out five and Mike Dicken finished the game out pitching the final inning and striking out two.
Mike Tomeo broke the game open for the Knights with a two-run home run to left center field to give Neumann the 4-1 lead in the second inning. Bill Pace contributed going 2-for-4, scoring three runs with four RBI. Derek Etsell went 2-for-3 with two triples, scored four runs while driving in four.
With the sweep, Neumann improves to 14-3 overall. Up next, the Knights will be traveling to Lebanon Valley Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 start.
