BEL AIR, Md. – The Neumann University softball team swept the College of Notre Dame on Monday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Game scores were 3-0 and 14-0 in five innings.
In game one, Rachel Purpuro pitched one-hit complete game shutout. The junior struck out 10.
The Knights scored two runs in the fourth and another in the seventh for the 3-0 final. Crystal Perlman was 3-for-4 and Nicki Spina went 2-for-3.
In game two, Neumann jumped out early and put eight runs on the board in the first inning. Kim Kirkpatrick, Callie Emel and Lauren Strack all had two-run hits in the inning.
The Knights added five more runs in the second. Emel knocked in two more runs.
Lacie Perry started the game and went 4.0 innings to pick up her first win. The freshman struck out three. Carley Gustin pitched the fifth inning and struck out two.
Neumann improves to 12-10 on the season, 6-2 in the CSAC. The Knights will travel to Baptist Bible tomorrow afternoon for a conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
