Knights Take A Pair From Falcons

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of games at Cedar Crest College on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Friday afternoon. Game scores were 16-1 in five innings and 11-0 in six innings.


Crystal Perlman knocked in three runs in the first game, including at two-run homerun. Megan Appold also hit a two-run homerun. Lauren Strack knocked in a pair of runs as well. Rachel Purpuro pitched 5.0 innings, allowed three hits and struck out seven in the win.


The Knights pounced early, putting six runs on the board in the first inning and seven in the second inning. The Falcons scored their lone run in the fourth inning on a homerun.


In game two, Nicki Spina knocked in three runs. Callie Emel and Mariah Ripken each knocked in a pair. Lacie Perry started the game and went 4.0 innings. Carley Gustin pitched the fifth and sixth innings as they combined for the shutout.


Neumann put four runs in the board in the second innings and didn't look back. In the sixth inning, Spina (2-run) and Emel (solo) went back-to-back.


Neumann is now 16-10 overall, 10-2 in the CSAC after winnings its last six contests. The Knights will host Philadelphia Biblical tomorrow morning beginning at 10 a.m.
