ASTON, Pa. – Matt Grossi knocked in Nick Martin in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Neumann University baseball team to a 3-2 win over Widener University on Tuesday afternoon.

Bobby Callan and Grossi each had two hits in the game. JJ Sims started the game and went 4.0 innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and struck out two. Matt Compton went 3.0 innings and struck out three. Mike Dicken picked up the win, pitching 2.0 innings.

Neumann got on the board with two runs in the first inning. Bill Pace scored on a Grossi double. Grossi then was knocked in on a Kevin Flanigan single.

Widener plated a run in the second and then tied the game in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the ninth and with one out, Callan hit a bunt single. Nick Martin came in to pinch run and moved to second on a passed ball. Martin then scored on a Grossi single to give the Knights a 3-2 win.

Neumann improves to 24-7 overall. The Knights travel to Moravian College tomorrow for non-conference action beginning at 4 p.m.
